Keiji Inafune had a helping hand in developing the character of Mega Man. After leaving Capcom in 2010, Inafune set out to release a spiritual successor to Mega Man in 2013. His project, Mighty No. 9 became the most successful Kickstarter with $4 million toward its goal. Fans thought Capcom had poorly treated the Mega Man series and Inafune was going to be the savior with his new game.
